Legal Leaders for the Future: New Partner Pair at Asserson
Asserson has announced that Yisroel Hiller and Baruch Baigel have become partners at the Firm in the Dispute Resolution team. Yisroel is the first American qualified lawyer to become a partner of the firm, while Baruch is the first person to reach partnership having completed his training at the firm.
Both Yisroel and Baruch have shown outstanding leadership and commitment to the firm and to its development and growth, and their promotion reflects not just their own achievements but also the continuing expansion of Asserson and its capabilities.
Yisroel came to Asserson having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University Law Center, and worked at Dewey Ballantine LLP and Reed Smith LLP in the US on some of the biggest litigation cases in the world, including the BP Oil spill; Parmalat, the Twin Towers and Enron.
In his years at the Firm his achievements include obtaining a final award from the LCIA in the sum of US $25 million and simultaneously obtaining a worldwide freezing order in support of the pending. He has acted for global players in multiple sectors and worked across the ICC, Technology and Construction Court and represented clients in a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration.
In his partnership application, Yisroel wrote:
“I never imagined being able to both live in Israel and to be a part of such a unique law firm with such an exciting and promising future. I am impressed daily with the quality and character of my colleagues and am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the collective effort of growing and cementing the future of Asserson.”
Baruch Baigel, consistently recognised internationally as one of the leading international lawyers of his generation, joined Asserson eight years ago from university. He is the LCIA’s first ever regional representative for Israel, and over recent years, Baruch has been involved in major ICC and LCIA arbitrations, and other high profile litigation, successfully defending the primary defendants in the UK Madoff litigation; successfully defending defendants in a major civil recovery claim brought by the UK Government under the Proceeds of Crime Act; and acting for major solar energy companies in a ground-breaking claim against the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Baruch said in his application to be partner:
“From day one, I have always felt and been made to feel a partner in the vision of the firm… As I have grown as a lawyer, alongside the firm itself, I continue to be ever more excited by what the firm has achieved and can achieve.“
Yisroel and Baruch’s appointments are effective from 19th April 2017.
