Asserson Up for Key Real Estate Prize

22 Nov 2018

Asserson has been shortlisted as Property Team of the Year in the British Legal Awards 2018.  The firm has been recognised for its Planning practice’s achievements in securing the first major private sector planning consents within the Old Oak Common regeneration project.

The scheme is currently London’s largest development area and set to include an estimated 25,000 new homes and to generate 5,000 new jobs.  Asserson’s work has involved buildings at North Kensington Gate of up to 22 storeys in height which will set many of the benchmarks for future schemes within the development.

Over a four year period, led by partners Daniel Drukarz and Marianne Barker, Asserson has helped to put together an appropriate professional team, dealt with the relevant planning authorities on behalf of the project as a whole, managed affordable housing provisions, and been instrumental in dramatically increasing the scale of development at the gateway to the project.  The team has negotiated complex agreements, as well as navigating heritage considerations since the project is adjacent to Grade 1 listed Kensal Green Cemetery and the Grand Union Canal.

The client was very satisfied with Asserson’s role, stating that “this has been a long process, and Asserson… have really driven this project forwards, and have been instrumental in all aspects. The team has worked tirelessly to ensure that permission was granted”.

The British Legal Awards are run by industry magazine Legal Week and designed to recognise achievement, excellence and innovation in the legal profession.
