Ben joined Asserson in September 2025 as a Partner in the Dispute Resolution department.
Prior to joining the firm, Ben was Partner and Head of Disputes at Ackroyd Legal, where he led the team for three years.
He brings with him more than twenty years of experience and a distinguished track record in commercial and insolvency litigation. Over the course of his career, Ben has successfully managed complex High Court cases, including substantial claims against banks and a high-profile fraud dispute valued at over £200 million.
Ben studied Law at the University of Manchester.
Recent & Notable Work:
- Haysport & Twinsectra v Ackerman: Represented the defendant in a claim brought by two charitable companies concerning about £6 million held on trust following transactions made while the defendant was a director.
- London Executive Aviation v RBS: Acted for the claimant in a financial mis-selling claim against RBS, one of the few such cases litigated to trial involving Interest Rate Hedging Products.
- Marahata v Taylor Hampton Solicitors: Represented the claimant in a partially successful negligence claim against previous solicitors.
- Isadore Goldman v Ackerman: Successfully represented a defendant before the Senior Courts Costs Office in a very large solicitors’ bill dispute, achieving a substantial reduction in the total bill.
- Ability Hotels (Cambridge) Ltd v Barclays, Trustees of the Centre of Life Church v Barclays, Consero Properties Ltd v Lloyds: Multiple claims relating to mis-selling of Interest Rate Hedging Products, many of which settled before trial.
- Group Seven Ltd v Louanjli & Others: Defended the 7th defendant in a large multi-hander fraud claim involving alleged theft and laundering of £100 million, ultimately decided by the Court of Appeal.
- Pycom Ltd v Remote Tech Limited & Others: Won for the defendants in a breach of confidential information claim, including a successful strike-out of most of the claim.
- Mann & Mann v DCD Trade Services Ltd: Acted for the claimant in a Part 8 claim concerning interpretation of a clause in a Tomlin Order.
- Ackerman v Leeds & Others: Application under Section 303 of the Insolvency Act to challenge the sale of a cause of action by a Trustee in Bankruptcy.
- Director of Public Prosecutions v Krasniqi & Another: Acted for the Defendants in a Part 8 Claim brought by the DPP in respect of alleged assets being the proceeds of criminal conduct of the Defendant’s late husband.
- Courtside Recycling Limited (In Liquidation) v Crabb: Acted for the Defendant in a £4 million claim brought by the liquidators of the company in respect of sums of money withdrawn in cash from the company.
- London Capital & Finance PLC (In Administration) & Others v Thomson & Others: Acted for the Fourth Defendant in a fraud claim valued at over £250 million brought by the administrators of the company.
- Frederic Achom v Specialist Taxation Services (Europe) Limited: Acting for the Applicant (a bankrupt) in an attempt to annul the bankruptcy.
