Michael Francos-Downs

Michael joined Asserson’s Real Estate Finance team in February 2026 as a Legal Director.

Before joining Asserson, Michael worked at three leading law firms in the North of England: Brabners LLP, JMW Solicitors LLP and Clarion. He built a strong reputation for acting on complex, high-value transactions for a broad range of lenders, including high street banks, development finance funders and independent/challenger banks. While his work is predominantly lender-led, he also advises borrowers on significant portfolio financings. Michael has extensive experience across a wide range of asset types, including landed estates, healthcare, industrial assets, buy-to-let portfolios, large-scale residential developments and multi-let retail assets.

Michael graduated with a law degree from the University of Birmingham in 2011, before completing the LPC at Manchester Metropolitan University.

In his spare time, Michael is a keen runner and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is also fluent in Spanish.
